Golden Star Resources Ltd. (Golden Star) is an international gold mining and exploration company that produces gold in Ghana, West Africa. Through its subsidiaries, it owns a controlling interest in four significant gold properties in southern Ghana: The Bogoso/Prestea property, Wassa property, Prestea Underground property and Hwini-Butre and Benso concessions (HBB Properties). At December 31, 2008, Bogoso/Prestea and Wassa produced and sold 126,026 and 125,427 ounces of gold, respectively. Bogoso/Prestea had proved and probable mineral reserves of 23.8 million tons containing approximately 2.4 million ounces of gold. Wassa, including the HBB properties, had proved and probable mineral reserves of 11.7 million tons containing approximately 0.9 million ounces of gold.

-Golden Star Resources Ltd announced that it is on track to meet fiscal 2009 guidance of 400,000 ounces of gold at an average cash operating cost of approximately $545 per ounce. 

-Record gold sales of 107,433 ounces for third quarter 2009, a 45% increase over third quarter 2008 and a 9% increase over the second quarter of 2009; Gold revenues for the quarter of $103.8 million representing an increase of 62% over third quarter 2008 and an 18% increase over the second quarter 2009 revenues.

-Among actively traded Colorado stocks, Golden Star Resources Ltd. was among a pair of actively traded gainers last Friday, up 1.36 percent (5 cents) to close at $3.74. It has a market cap of 886.15 million and has traded within a 52-week range of $0.40 and $3.91. GSS is currently above its 20-day moving average of $3.55 and above its 250-day moving average of $2.07. It has near-term technical support in the $3.30 price area. If the shares can continue the recent rebound, we see overhead resistance around the $3.91 price levels. Technical indicator for the stock is strong buy.  Here is the chart:
